Teresa Fream, violin

Teresa Fream has established a widely varied career in opera, symphonic music, and chamber music. She is currently a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In addition, she is a longstanding member of Music of the Baroque and frequently plays with the Grant Park Symphony. During her years in the Chicago area, she has been soloist with Music of the Baroque, Contemporary Chamber Players, Rembrandt Chamber Players, and Fulcrum Point New Music Project, of which she was a founding member.

Prior to her position with Lyric Opera, she was a member of the Nashville Symphony, eventually serving as that orchestra’s Principal Second Violin. While there, she was active in the recording industry and regularly performed with a great variety of artists from all genres.

After graduating from the Indiana University School of Music as a student of Franco Gulli, she continued study at the North Carolina School of the Arts and Michigan State University. As a member of the Thouvenel String Quartet she performed regularly throughout the United States and Europe, and championed the string quartets of Ernst Krenek. In 1978 they performed the complete quartets of Krenek at New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall, for which they were named Musical America’s Musicians of the Month.

Teresa has been a member of the Peninsula Music Festival for over 20 years. She lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband, conductor Brian Groner, and their three cats Beaux, Ella, and Jack.
