JoAnn Falletta debuted with the PMF last summer. Anna Burden, a member of the PMF Orchestra cello section, previously soloed in 2012 playing the Prokofiev Sinfonia Concertante.

The only previous performance at PMF of Elgar's Sospiri was in 2007. The first performance at the Festival of the Elgar Cello Concerto was in 1969 with Zaraq Nelsova, cellist and Thor Johnson conducting. The most recent performance was in 2005 with soloist Astrid Schween and Victor Yampolsky conducting. Respighi's Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome are being performed for the first time at PMF in this concert. Program notes for this concert...
