Scott Shoemaker, violin

Scott Shoemaker has been a violinist with the Peninsula Music Festival since 1980. During the regular season, he is a member of the Omaha Symphony, a position he has held since 1982. Scott received his Bachelors of Music Degree in 1981 from the University of Miami in Florida. His principal teachers were Carol Sindell and Thomas Moore.

While in Miami, he was a member of the Florida Philharmonic for three years and also a member of the Miami String Quartet. During the summer of 1981, his quartet was chosen as one of six to compete in the annual String quartet competition in Banff, Alberta. While in Canada, he had the opportunity to work with the original members of the Hungarian String Quartet, including Zoltan Szekely, violinist who premiered the Bartok Violin Concerto.

Scott has also been a member of several other orchestras including the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Oregon Chamber Orchestra, the Peter Britt Music Festival and the Des Moines Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Originally from Milwaukee WI, Scott looks forward to returning to his home state each August and being part of the spectacular music-making that takes place under the esteemed leadership of Victor Yampolsky!
