Information For Students Applying For The Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship The Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The scholarship is in the amount of $3,000.00 and is awarded as follows:
The recipient must be an outstanding music student who is a resident of Door County. To be considered for this award, the student must have demonstrated his or her abilities as a performer and must have shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college. The recipient will be notified of his or her selection by April 30, 2008. A certificate will be presented at the annual awards ceremony at his or her school. This award must be utilized for educational expenses. Checks are made out to and sent directly to the college that the recipient is attending. At the end of each academic year, beginning with the completion of the freshman year, the recipient is expected to furnish the Peninsula Music Festival with a brief progress report and proof of registration for the following academic year as either a music major or minor.musicfestival@dcwis.com. The Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship This three year, $1,000.00 per year, scholarship is to be awarded each year to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The recipient must be an outstanding music student, who has demonstrated his or her ability as a performer and has shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college. To apply, a student must write an essay outlining his or her qualifications, including accomplishments in music, future plans, academic achievements, high school transcripts, and any other information he or she feels is appropriate for this music scholarship. Letters of recommendation must be sent from a music professional and from the student's high school principal. An application blank is enclosed and may be reproduced as needed. The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors will receive applications and will select the recipient. Applications must be received at the PMF by April 14, 2008 and the recipient will be notified by April 31, 2008. A certificate will be presented at the annual awards ceremony at his or her school. The scholarship will be awarded starting at the beginning of his or her second year of college and continuing until the beginning of the senior year of college. The award must be utilized for educational expenses. At the end of each academic year, beginning with the completion of the freshman year, the recipient is expected to furnish the Peninsula Music Festival with a brief progress report and proof of registration for the following academic year with a major or minor in music. Only one $3,000 scholarship will be awarded each year. The PMF retains the right to not award the scholarship in any year in which no applicant meets the criteria.
